Privacy Policy — RovaQR

Developer: KINGBRAIN  ·  Effective date: 7 July 2026

RovaQR ("the app", "we") is an app developed and published by KINGBRAIN. It is a QR & barcode scanner and generator built with a privacy-first design: scanning, QR creation, history, and inventory all work on your device. We do not require an account, and the contents of the codes you scan or create are never uploaded to us. This policy explains what data stays on your device, what limited data is processed by third-party services (ads, analytics, billing), and the choices you have.

1. Data that stays on your device

The following data is stored only in the app's private storage on your device and is never transmitted to us:

You can delete any or all of this data at any time from History and Settings (including automatic history clearing after a period you choose). Private mode prevents scans and created codes from being saved at all. The app's database is excluded from Android cloud backups and device transfers; only lightweight preferences (such as theme) may be included in your device's Google backup.

2. Camera and images

The camera is used solely to detect QR codes and barcodes, and all decoding happens on your device (offline, using on-device machine learning). Camera frames are processed in memory and are not stored or transmitted. Images you pick from your gallery for scanning are likewise decoded on-device and not uploaded.

3. Data processed by third-party services

Like most free apps, the free version of RovaQR shows ads and uses crash/usage analytics. These Google services may automatically collect limited device data:

ServicePurposeData typically processed
Google AdMob Banner, interstitial, app-open, and rewarded ads in the free version Advertising ID, IP address, coarse location derived from IP, device information, ad interaction data (details)
Firebase Analytics Aggregate usage statistics (e.g. screens used, feature adoption) Pseudonymous identifiers, device information, app events (details)
Firebase Crashlytics Crash reports so we can fix bugs Crash traces, device state and model, app version
Google Play Billing Pro subscription purchases and restores Handled entirely by Google Play; we never see your payment details
Google Play In-App Review Optional rate-the-app prompt Handled by Google Play

The contents of your scans and created codes are never shared with these services. Upgrading to Pro removes all advertising from the app.

4. Advertising consent and your choices

5. Permissions we request

PermissionWhy
CameraScanning codes. Requested only when you use the scanner; the app installs and works (image scanning, creation) without it.
Notifications (Android 13+)Optional app notifications. The app works fully if you decline.
Internet / network stateAds, analytics, billing, and links you explicitly open. Scanning and QR creation work offline.
VibrateOptional haptic feedback on scan.
Advertising IDAd delivery in the free version (see section 3).

We do not request access to your contacts, SMS, call logs, precise location, or files beyond those you explicitly pick or share into the app.

6. Data sharing and selling

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with third parties except the service providers listed in section 3, which process it to provide their function (ads, analytics, crash reporting, billing). Exports you create (CSV, PNG, PDF, etc.) are shared only with the apps you choose in the share dialog.

7. Data retention and deletion

8. Security

Your history lives in the app's private, sandboxed storage that other apps cannot read. An optional biometric App Lock (Pro) can additionally protect access to your history and codes within the app.

9. Children

RovaQR is a general-audience utility and is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your region). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal data through the app's third-party services, contact us and we will help remove it.

10. Your rights

Depending on your region (e.g. GDPR in the EU/UK, CCPA/CPRA in California), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data, and to withdraw consent. Because RovaQR keeps your content on-device, most of these rights can be exercised directly in the app (delete history, private mode, ad-consent settings). For data processed by Google services, we will assist with requests — contact us below.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected by a new effective date at the top of this page, and where appropriate, an in-app notice.
